Summary

In Superman & Lois, Superman must come to terms with balancing the difficulties of a family life and also being the world’s greatest superhero.

Positives

I absolutely loved Superman & Lois 1×01! I must admit that when I first heard the concept, I thought it would be something too difficult to achieve–or just downright not interesting. However, within the first few scenes, you automatically become invested in not just Superman’s–but Clark Kent’s personal life. The first few minutes of the show takes you through Clark’s personal trials and tribulations and how, through it all, he still manages to save the world as the Man of Steel.

Negatives

No negatives here, so I will take a moment to talk about some more positives. I must admit, I thought that Superman having a family with Lois was something I wouldn’t be interesting in seeing. However, I loved it here. Jonathan and Jordan are the twins of Lois and Clark and are portrayed as two immensely different people. The pilot episode has done a great job of showcasing these differences, and even gives us a nice surprise about them as well. I’m looking forward to seeing how these brothers progress in the series and how much they may come to depend on each other in the future.

Verdict

This pilot episode of Superman & Lois was great. It had intense action, great storytelling, and it made you really sympathize with Clark’s struggle. This is man that literally has the power to change the world, and yet he struggles to keep his family together just like anyone else would.
