Aquaman 2 expands its ocean with another fellow Game of Thrones alum.
Pilou Asbaek, who portrated Eron Greyjoy on Game of Thrones, has been cast in the sequel to the 2018 film. Although the details to this role is unknown, this reunites Pilou with lead and fellow GOT alum Jason Mamoa. Mamoa portrayed Khol Drogo for the first two seasons before departing.

Asbaek’s other credits include Netflix’s Outside The Wire, Overlord with Wyatt Russell, and Run Sweetheart Run. He also has the upcoming MGM film Samaritan with legend Sylvestor Stallone. Stallone himself is entering the DC Universe as King Shark in James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad.
Although plot details for the sequel are also unknown, what is known about the sequel is that James Wan is returning as director, and the script is being penned by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. As to Amber Heard’s status in the project, in spite of previous personal legal issues the actress is slated to return as Arthur Curry’s love interest, Mera. Another question up in the air is whether the recently-released Zack Snyder’s Justice League will have any connection to the film given the film’s success. However, given the plot deviations regarding Mera and even King Atlan, Arthur’s ancestor, make that possibility unlikely.
The first film – which also starred Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren – was one of the biggest successes of the DC shared universe besides Wonder Woman and Shazam! Its worldwide box office gross was $1.14 billion dollars, making the sequel Warners Media’s top priority. Its stunning visuals of Atlantis and deep emotional story
Aquaman 2 is slated to debut in theaters on December 16, 2022. It’s not known as yet if there’ll be a simultaneous debut on HBO Max as previous DC films have in the past.
