Oh how I waited for The Silver Coin #2 to come.  Teased with more astounding art by Michael Walsh and a story written by Kelly Thompson was enough for me. But hearing what “Girls Of Summer” was going to be about caught me. So let’s get into it!

You’ll Go On A Bus…And Come Back In A Bag!

Fiona Watterman aka Pickle is going to summer camp. An avid lover of the Sleepaway Camp style horror movies she feels she is doing her research before hand. Reality versus expectation is a real drag however. What seemed so wholesome and boring at first turns into a nightmare as Fiona finds herself the main focus of the mean girls in her bunkhouse.

Being a target to their cruelty and “pranks” finally reaches a climax as Fiona runs into the woods to escape them. She stumbles across a cabin in the woods where a familiar coin has found a home. With a new owner found, things are about to get hectic…and bloody.

Positives

First of all both covers are exquisite. But the art inside blew me away. The way the art is done for the video tape is genius. Literally like stills from a horror movie. Also the Squelch effect (lettering) is just delightfully wicked. This series is fully of talent and Michael Walsh gives some amazing art that weaves a spell as each writer takes charge of a story featuring this evil Silver Coin.

Kelly Thompson gives such a great terrifying story that is full of all things horror buffs crave. The Silver Coin #2 brought back a lot of memories of older horror movies and shorts from shows like Tales From The Crypt or CreepShow.

Negatives

None.

Verdict

The Silver Coin #2 is a gem. It gives readers the thrills and chills that a good around the campfire story is supposed to.  The team ups are so fluid in their crafts that it makes the story good in all respects. If you are a horror fan this is sure to be a favorite series.
