Summary
Jordan is having difficulties controlling a newly acquired power. Meanwhile Luthor’s history is revealed–and he has a showdown with Superman.
 Positives
Superman & Lois 1×07Â sees Jordan finally get the power of super hearing. Coming in at random with an assortment of sounds from literally all over the world, Jordan falls to the ground in pain the first time it happens. Taking his son to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark learns how to deal with his situation. This was a good time for Jordan and Clark to bond over the emerging of Jordan’s powers. Jordan was scared at first, but soon fear turns to anger when he overhears Johnathan talking to Sarah. The brothers have a brief confrontation, but that soon changes when Jordan overhears Superman being in danger. From there, the boys take action to save their Dad, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Negatives
I have no complaints about this episode. One thing in particular I enjoyed was that we got a look into Luthor’s past and we learned his real name–John Henry Irons. I was in complete shock. It seems that the A.I. was only programmed to call him Luthor instead. John built the suit after the death of his wife, an alternate Earth Lois Lane at the hands of an evil, alternate Earth Superman. It seems that on this other Earth, John and Lois had a daughter as well named Nat. I really hope we find out what happened to their daughter. I’m assuming since John is alone, that Nat just simply never made it on the ship to the prime Earth, but we’re not sure. What we do know however is that John Henry Irons is a dangerous and inventive man–and he puts Superman to the test towards the end of the episode.
Verdict
Superman & Lois 1×07 was a really great and fun episode. It’s amazing how these writers have found the perfect balance of action and family drama. It actually makes you care about the fate of these characters. Now that Luthor has been revealed as Irons, I’m quite sure his story and rivalry with Superman is far from over.
