Summary

Superman & Lois 4×07: After some concerning interactions in town, Clark is determined to protect the secret that he’s Superman – a task complicated by Jonathan and Jordan; Lois considers the future of the Gazette after Chrissy proposes something drastic.

Positives

This episode takes us out of the world of superpowers for a while, and has you instead interested in the life of Clark Kent. Because of the events of the battle against the behemoth Doomsday and subsequently dying in the middle of the street in Smallville, Clark finds himself struggling to keep his secret. While running errands in town, the reactions of people are a little different, and I found it quite funny. Clark, however, is concerned and starts a day of going around town convincing people that he’s not Superman in subtle ways.

Jordan and Jonathan seem to be having their own issues as well. While attempting to hang out with friends, the boys get approached by someone accusing one of them of using their powers during football season. Thankfully, Kyle shows up and breaks up the tense situation, but it forces Clark to go to some drastic steps that the sons weren’t particularly happy about.

Negatives

I don’t have any complaints about this episode.

Verdict

Superman & Lois 4×07 was just as much about the people of Smallville as it was about Clark Kent and his family. The people of Smallville are truly amazing and inspiring. Despite knowing the truth about Clark, they continue to treat him as a regular citizen of the town, and I loved that for him. However, thanks to Lex Luthor, someone from the past makes a return that forces Clark to abandon all hope for a normal life any longer. Forced to reveal his identity at the end, the entire world now knows that Clark Kent is Superman. With the support of his family, Clark makes the reveal on national television, ready to answer any and all questions that will soon come his way. I can’t wait to see how this will not only affect the Kents, but also Smallville as a whole going forward.
