Summary

Absolute Batman #3 – The origins of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are revealed. Also, Batman gets a very interesting offer from Black Mask — one that’s difficult to ignore.

Positives

We see the origins of Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne’s time together, growing up as kids in Gotham City. Running across the rooftops together, Selina is just as courageous as a kid — just like her friend Bruce.

In the present, Batman and Alfred are on the run from the Party Animals in the Batmobile — which is a giant dumpster truck! With Alfred attached to the truck, hanging on for dear life, Batman roars through the city streets with Black Mask’s criminals shooting behind them. Alfred, while all the shooting is going on around them, reveals Blask Mask’s true origins and how he can help Batman take down the villain for good.

Negatives

I have no complaints about this issue.

Verdict

Overall, Absolute Batman #3 was a great story that further shows us the origins of Bruce Wayne, as well as Selina Kyle. One really cool thing about this issue is that Bruce’s friends in the end ambush him at movie night at the Gotham theater. And the movie title? Mask of Zorro. I thought that this was interesting, and it seems that no matter the iteration of Bruce Wayne, we see that particular movie will always be a part of his origin story.
