DC has announced the upcoming first appearance of new DC character the Matriarch, debuting on September 17, 2025, in Wonder Woman #25 by Tom King and Dani Sampere.

Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s Wonder Woman
Two years in and Tom King and Daniel Sampere are still going on Wonder Wonder Woman. The first long form story ended with Wonder Woman #19. Wonder Woman #25 introduces a new villain, The Matriarch who appears to be the focus of a second long form story after the conclusion of the Mouse-Man storyline. As King and Sampere finally resolve the mystery of Emilie (hopefully), they also begin the next phase of their Wonder Woman run.
It would appear that The Matriarch will be Emilie’s grown up baby. Still no word on the father of Emilie’s child, but that will probably play into the storyline as it unfolds. One imagines that it could still be The Sovereign, and the images on the main cover seen at the top of the article seem to confirm these assumptions.
