Summary

Absolute Batman #10: Bruce Wayne is trapped within the horrors of Ark M as his best friend Waylon Jones endures unimaginable tortures…but what awaits Batman is far more terrifying than anything either has faced…the true form of Bane!

Positives

In this issue, Batman is still being held captive at Ark M, a secret facility that is doing all types of experiments on different individuals. Their goal, apparently, is to break Bruce Wayne down mentally, thus giving them the access they need to control his mind.

However, Bruce is not so easily broken. Night after night, he attempts to break out using different methods, but with each attempt he encounters Bane, who beats him at every turn. I must admit, I felt bad for Bruce in this issue as he’s alone in his crusade, and I hope this makes him realize the need for a reliable partner in situations like this.

Negatives

I have no complaints about this issue; however, it breaks my heart to find out what happens to Bruce’s longtime friend Waylon Jones. Kidnapped awhile back, we now learn that Waylon has been experimented on, and Batman finds him on his way out the facility. What happens is a team up that Batman desperately needed in order to fight his way out of Ark M once and for all.

My heart also goes out especially to Martha Wayne, who has spent the last few weeks looking for Bruce, with no results. His anonymity being a hindrance to the search for him, Martha has refused to give up. I really hope that, when Bruce returns, one of the first things he does is let his mom know he’s alright. Her concern for Bruce shows throughout the entire issue.

Verdict

Overall Absolute Batman #10 is a great read, and shows just how much of a menace Bane can be to Batman. Throughout the previous issues, we’ve seen Batman be brutal and often overpowering to his foes, but that can’t be the same against Bane.
