Summary
As suspicions grow that Jefferson Pierce is Black Lightning, the ASA arranges to have him arrested. Lynn seeks help from Detecitve Henderson. Meanwhile, as Jefferson is in custody, Gambi and Anissa work together to show Black Lightning is still running around the streets of Freeland.
Positives
In this episode, viewers gets to see just how deep Kara, Jefferson’s vice principal, is in with the ASA, as her recruiting of students as bodies harvested by the shadow organization proves to viewers just how vital she is to the storyline Also, her crush on Jefferson proves to be an interesting conflict, one that I hope will pay off in the season finale. This episode also shows the difference in how persons of color are detained and treated different, even if they have superpowers.
Inspector Henderson gets a more proactive role this week, as he catches dirty cops planting evidence on Jefferson and becomes the deputy Chief of Police, an arc very similar to Commissioner Gordon in the show Gotham. We also get to see Jefferson and Gambi find a new balance between the two of them, something fans will be happy to see as the shows pushes to the season finale.
Negatives
The lack of Tobias Whale and Lala in this episode leaves a huge hole in the story, one which will hopefully be back to normal operations by the next episode.
Verdict
This episode brings light to lesser known characters like Kara and Henderson, making this a well rounded show. So if you haven’t been watching Black Lightning, definitely start.
