It has been a long time since we heard the announcement of a live-action adaptation of The Boys comic by Garth Ennis coming to Amazon. The adaptation started as a movie but looks to finally be gaining traction as a TV show under the care of Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg.
The Boys details the lives a powered CIA group of the same name that monitor superheroes who have been corrupted by fame and status and neglected their heroics. These heroes are parallels of the Justice League characters we know and love such as Homelander (Superman) and Queen Maeve (Wonder Woman). The confrontations between The Boys and the antagonistic heroes called the Seven often end violently.
The Seven has now been fully cast. American Gothic‘s Anthony Starr has been cast as Homelander, The Last Tycoon‘s Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Supernatural‘s Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford as The Deep, Survivor’s Remorse‘s Jessie T. Usher as A-train, and Erin Moriarty as Starlight.
The show will be directed by Preacher’s directing team of Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogan and produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. The Boys was created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. There is currently no premiere date set for this show.
