Summary
My Adventures With Superman 1×08 – Lois meets her journalism idol, Vicki Vale only for Vicki to make Lois question her loyalty to Superman. Meanwhile, Superman hunts down Task Force X while dealing with a new power.
Positives
My Adventures With Superman 1×08 introduces us to Vicki Vale, reporter from Gotham City. In other media, she’s often a rival to Lois Lane, so it was interesting to see her here as a mentor of sorts. It was hilarious how Jimmy and Lois go out of their way to defend Superman’s reputation, but I did see Vicki’s point of view about Superman being a potential threat. From various interviews and stories, she finds out that he seems to be a genuine her,o but for her that’s not enough–there must be more to the story.
Meanwhile, Clark starts experiencing his super-hearing for the first time, and I enjoyed how this was different from past stories of Superman. I like how he’s getting his powers as time goes on and not all at once. It gives them more mystery and it’s more of a journey for Clark as well. Using his super-hearing immediately to his advantage, Superman starts helping the citizens of Metropolis–with literally everything–and drives himself to the verge of exhaustion. And that’s when he gets attacked be a newly formed Task Force X.
Negatives
Is it a negative if I hated the way Superman gets jumped by Task Force X? Honestly, although I did hate it, it was a pretty good fight. Superman, who was immensely tired from helping the citizens of Metropolis all day with his super-hearing, gets almost decimated by Task Force X. This team, put together by the General, is composed of Superman’s previous villains, including Dr. Ivo, also known as The Parasite. Superman is beaten badly and captured, leaving a stunned and confused Jimmy and Lois in the park looking at the aftermath.
Verdict
My Adventures With Superman 1×08 was a great episode and I’m looking forward to seeing part two.
