Summary

Batman and Catwoman are on a mission that takes them across a dangerous and vast desert, to face one of Batman’s most dangerous enemies. Heading to a place where the government, not even the Justice League will go, what is Batman’s endgame? And just how is Catwoman involved?

Positives

The entire bat family is back in this issue and it’s hilarious. King definitely held nothing back introducing everyone from Alfred, Dick, Tim, Damian, Thomas and even Ace in this issue. Alfred makes the announcement that Bruce and Selina are getting married and everyone goes nuts! Even Ace the dog has a surprised look on his face and I found it pretty funny. King does a wonderful job of showing how close Bruce’s bat family is out of the costume in this issue and even Damian has an emotional moment when he finds out his father is getting married.

Negatives

King gave me no negatives about this issue. If I had to make a complaint it would be to the lack of action, but I know that not every comic is a straight slugfest on every page. Here, King takes the time to show us the consequences of Bruce’s choice to allow Selina a full role in his life, and just how it will affect the rest of the team is unknown. It’s quite clear the rest of the bat family, perhaps excluding Alfred, sees Selina as a villain, and they don’t trust her at all.

Verdict

Overall I thought Batman #33 was a solid issue and an entertaining read. Here we see Bruce’s engagement come full circle, and I can’t wait to see what happens once he and Selina return. King gave a great cliffhanger which introduces an old Batman foe to the mix. I’m not giving away any names but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how Selina will deal with this threat in the next issue!
