Michael Keaton has praised the casting of Ben Affleck in the Superman vs Batman film.

The sequel to director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is to film in Michigan early next year, with Ben Affleck taking the role of Batman.

Keaton played the Caped Crusader in filmmaker Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns, and has now expressed confidence in Affleck’s casting.

It’s going to be great,

Keaton told TMZ, adding:

Ben will be great.

Affleck has previously received support from his close friend Matt Damon, The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and The Avengers director Joss Whedon.

Morgan Freeman – who also appeared in The Dark Knight Rises – has said that he was surprised by the decision to recast Batman so soon after Christian Bale left the role.

Superman vs Batman will be released on July 17, 2015.
