As you already know, the upcoming Justice League 3000 will be released in December 2013. It will feature the Justice League’s adventures in the future along with new legacy characters taking up their respective mantles. Howard Porter, the artist of the book as well as the artist in the 90s JLA series sat down with Comic Vine to discuss his new art duties.
HP: It is a familiar feeling, sort of like a home coming but the school has changed so much you can hardly recognize it anymore. It’s a great feeling. You know how find yourself saying, “I wish I knew then what I know now” when you reflect on the past you? Well, I get to revisit things and I have quite a few more tricks up my sleeve than I did the first go around.
Porter is very much involved with the character designs of the book and stated that he enjoys messing around with the characters in his sketchbook. For instance, Porter enjoys drawing pictures of Batman’s gadgets, Green Lantern’s cloak, and Wonder Woman. Even though the series would be mostly dark, it does have some humor and funny moments. Regarding the JL3K’s origin story, Porter mentions that:Â The Justice League is indeed fully formed and we see them thrown into some pretty intense action by the time you get through the first 6 pages. We are however jumping in relatively close to the beginning of their adventures together, so there are still more than a few kinks to work out. you can rest assured that we will find out the “how and why” not too far down the road. From what I have been told, it’s pretty crazy!
