Talon officially joins the list of titles that will put out their final issues in March 2014; Amanda Waller to receive one-shot story written by Jim Zub

With the release of DC’s New 52 solicits for March 2014, readers received several surprises concerning the future of the New 52. First off, Geoff Johns and David Finch’s epic miniseries Forever Evil will reach its conclusion, promising to leave the DC universe forever changed. However, before the effects of the event are fully felt, DC Editorial decided to make a few shakeups of their own by cancelling several titles.

Talon, Animal Man, and Batman: The Dark Knight were all officially axed in this morning’s announcement. Both Animal Man and Batman: The Dark Knight had already been announced as being cancelled yesterday, with writers Jeff Lemire and Gregg Hurwitz making announcements on their blog. Talon, the comic book offspring of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s run on Batman, received no such treatment. With series regular writer James Tynion IV leaving the title this December, it seems DC gave up on finding a permanent successor and cancelled the book, leaving fans of the series hoping to see more of the character in the upcoming Batman: Eternal weekly series.

As for Buddy Baker, his final issue will be both written and drawn by Lemire and original series artist Travel Foreman. After the series finale, the hero will become a member of Lemire’s Justice League Canada team.

On the flip side, DC also announced one new book with today’s solicitations. Amanda Waller, head of ARGUS and the Suicide Squad, will be getting her own one-shot story next March. Written by Jim Zub and illustrated by Andre Coelho, the story will feature Waller battling one of her many enemies in a fight for her life. Sounds like just another day on the job for the character.

Below is the solicitation for Waller’s one-shot.
