The adventures of Helena Wayne and Karen Starr continue in the latest issue of Worlds’ Finest. We also get to meet the master behind ‘Tats’, the mysterious girl with the shadow tattoos. And Karen finds out last issue’s adventure into space hasn’t solved her power problems….

The Positive

Worlds’ Finest #18 rounds out an all-new DCU character, Tats. She’s been giving the girls the run around lately, and we get to see her in a different light than just acts of random violence. We also discover that she is being coerced by some greater power….

Maybe she isn't such a bad girl....

This issues also gives it’s bright and vibrant imagery of action and explosion.

The Negative

Karen continues tying to convince Helena they should try to continue their lives on Earth Prime.

While the issue continues to bring many of the things that Worlds’ Finest is doing right, it also carries on with one of its major flaws: Power Girl as a secondary character. She does have a few moments to let us know she still has a personality, though.

Karen continues tying to convince Helena they should try to continue their lives on Earth Prime.

Helena continues to be the main character. While an interesting hero, Helena seems to be a younger girl version of Bruce Wayne. She is another Batchild that lives in the Batshadow.

The other missing piece of this series is the absence of the rest of the DCU. While the escapades of Helena and Karen tend to cause a large amount damage, they have yet to be visited by any other hero or organisation that show up when real estate is being blown up. A few new characters have appeared, which is always a plus, some of the more globe trekking supers have yet to pop in.

Verdict :

Paul Levitz’s writing continues to promise exciting potentials for the series, but has yet to deliver any important or solid results. While these two characters are considered cult classics by most fans, this current series is keeping them as second-string book.
