The kind folks over at DC Entertainment have graced us with a sneak peak into the Arkham Game Series animated movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham. The movie will star Kevin Conroy returning as Batman once again, alongside Suicide Squad members in the likes of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Frost and etc, who are hoping to reduce their Prison sentences.
The same production team who worked on the recent Son of Batman and Justice League War are back, Jay Oliva returns as Co-Director for the Arkham-verse movie explains that the Movie will be based 2yrs before the 1st Arkham Game. He goes on and says –
“As I was prepping myself for this film, I thought to myself, ‘Well you know what, if I directed this a little differently, what if I directed this like a Guy Ritchie film. That’s what we ended up doing. We ended up making it feel like a very heist, Italian Job type of film.”
With famed Voice Director Andrea Romano & Producer James Tucker coming back together both described the movie.
They both state –
Romano
“Basically the story is, Amanda Waller (CCH Pounder) pulls a bunch of criminals together to steal something that the Riddler has.”
Tucker
“Since we’re kinda the prequel to the very first game, we want to make sure we were actually filling in any gaps the games might have had between them. We wanted to be the glue that fits those two puzzles together.”
If you really enjoyed the recent DC animated movies from Flashpoint Paradox to Son of Batman, it is safe to say that this animated project will hit all cylinders with you, based from the 7min video link below. The sneak peak below shows the background description straight from the production team’s lips, after watching the vid, I couldn’t help but think of one of my favourite Justice League Unlimited episode – Task Force X, where we follow our anti-heroes through the story.
Batman: Assault on Arkham stars Neal McDonough (Justified) as Deadshot and Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Adventures) returns to the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Batman: Assault on Arkham hits stores on DVD/Blu-Ray August 12.
