After months of speculation about what the new title will be for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman we have the answer.
The title for the 2016 film is officially “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and was released by Warner Brothers earlier today on the Man of Steel Twitter account tweeting: “New logo and start of production for #BatmanvSuperman: Dawn of Justice. http://bit.ly/BvSrelease” along with the picture below. The twitter account later was moved from the original username to @BatmanvsSuperman where the statement can now be found.
The logo is very similar, if not identical to the one shown at last year’s San Diego Comic Con with the Man of Steel “S” in front of the Bat symbol with the new title beneath it.
This comes right on the heels of Ben Affleck’s Batman suit and Batmobile reveal that occured last week when director Zack Snyder tweeted a black and white picture of Affleck in front of the new Batmobile. Snyder had teased at the reveal of the Batmobile the day before, but not the suit itself as many fans around the world were treated to the unexpected surprise of seeing the new suit.
This also follows shots of Gal Gadot on the set of the film being surfaced online in a blue dress with her hair dyed black getting into a car while being filmed (below).
This new title ends all speculation about what the movie is going to be called and now officially it can be referred to as “Batman vs. Superman” as many had already labeled it prior to this official release. As well as releasing the title, the film has now begun official production meaning there should be more set shots released in the near future.
“Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will star Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in their titular roles respectively alongside Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and will be released on May 6th, 2016.
