Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice To Feature Seasoned Caped Crusader

Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will reportedly feature a seasoned caped crusader. Ben Affleck’s incarnation of the character will have been at work for nearly thirty years. A lot would have happened within that timespan, including at least one dead Robin, according to Badass Digest. Writer Devin Faraci describes Batman as in his fifties, and unlike previous Batmen, keeps a low profile and mostly operates in secret.

[Batman’s] still an urban legend, a creature of the night, and no one has ever taken his picture. But he’s had plenty of adventures, and the Batcave includes a memorial centered around a tattered Robin costume.

This would affirm earlier rumors that Jason Todd would be a character referenced but perhaps not actually seen onscreen in the film. If there’s to be a dead Robin shrine, it’s likely to be Jason’s. There’s a possibility that the current Robin in the film could be Damian Wayne, but it would require referencing Ra’s al Ghul and his daughter Talia, who played a big role in The Dark Knight Rises, so it seems unlikely. What’s most likely is that the Dark Knight is fighting crime alone, either after the loss of Jason or the retirement of Tim, and the next Robin doesn’t exist yet or at all in the film.

Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, taken on location in Detroit, looking at wreckage in front of a Wayne Financial building in Metropolis.

Of course, all of this is just speculation. DC Comics News will continue to report more on this story.
