The filming location the asylum is Bayley Seton Hospital in Staten Island, New York.  The leaked pictures are said to be for the fourth episode of the premiere season, called “Lavender.”

Executive Producer for the show Bruno Heller said to IGN last month that Arkham will play a major role as a story telling device for the first season.  “…The revolving door of Arkham is both a brilliant narrative device because it allows you to — you don’t have to kill people off, you can just put them in cold storage.”

Heller also talked about Hugo Strange appearing in “Gotham” and heavily implies that the character will be the inaugural boss man of the institution.  “Hugo Strange is going to pop up because we’re going to start dealing with how Arkham was created and why Arkham was created in the way that it was so, yeah, absolutely. It’s a Season One thing because in our telling of it the way Arkham was created and the why and how is one of the causes of the particular criminal climate in Gotham that allowed Batman to happen.”

It sounds like we should get comfortable with seeing the entrance gates in these new photos.  We’re going to be spending a lot of time at Arkham Asylum.
