A few months back, Gail Simone teased on her twitter account the return of SECRET SIX is the most obvious yet subtle way. Admittedly, for fans who loved the series and fans of DC Comics, it was not that subtle, but it was certainly a big tease and as of September 4, 2014, Gail Simone has let the Catman out of the bag.
Yes, you read that correctly, she is bringing Catman back!
The new SECRET SIX series is reintroducing Catman, Thomas Blake, into the new 52. Alongside his reintroduction into the new 52 he will be getting a new look by Dale Eaglesham that Simone has said will make him “so smokin’ and so dangerous-looking…this kitten has claws.” I don’t know about you, but this has won me over already; Catman has always been one of my favorite characters.
On that note, Simone has also revealed that Catman is going to be the center of the new team of members who immediately dislike one another. In an interview with LA Times, she states the following:
“You’re going to see right away kind of what Catman’s about. I don’t want to reveal too much just because it is part of his character and part of his story to unfold these things through the story.”
Also returning to the SECRET SIX is Black Alice who briefly reintroduced into the New 52 in the miniseries DC UNIVERSE VS. HE MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (or vice versa), where the teen magic stealing Goth helped Skeletor reign evil down upon the Earth. As of right now, Simone has not revealed if she will be making any changes to that character.
SECRET SIX #1 is set for release December 3, 2014.
