The Flash may be the fastest man alive, but even Barry can’t out run this villain.
The CW have released their programming schedule for the week of October 12, along with the official synopsis for the second episode of the season, titled, “Fastest Man Alive,” set to air Tuesday, October 14.
“Fastest Man Alive” – (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)
BARRY HAS FUN WITH HIS NEW POWERS BUT A SETBACK MAKES HIM QUESTION HIS ABILITY TO BE A HERO —Barry (Grant Gustin) escorts Iris (Candice Patton) to a university gathering honoring scientist Simon Stagg (guest star William Sadler). When six gunmen storm the event, Barry changes into The Flash and tries to stop them. While he does save a man’s life, he passes out before he can capture the robbers, which frustrates him.
As Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) scramble to find out what’s wrong with Barry, Joe (Jesse Martin) comes down hard on Barry for taking the law into his own hands and risking his life. Barry realizes that it wasn’t six gunmen but a metahuman named Danton Black (guest star Michael Christopher Smith), who can make multiples of himself. Meanwhile, Iris becomes even more intrigued by the “red streak.”
Dr. Wells, Caitlin, Cisco, and Barry himself have yet to discover the extent of Barry’s newly acquired abilities. Undoubtedly, the season will explore his capabilities, but why did Barry pass out? What about Simon Stagg? In the realm of DC Comics, Stagg has a less-than-stellar reputation as an unscrupulous business man. What is he doing in Central City? Does this mean Rex Mason, better known by his superhuman alter-ego Metamorpho, will be making his television debut? Let the speculating begin!
David Nutter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7.
