Stars and producers hint at a few big names set to appear on Gotham – but are they friends or foes, or perhaps a mix of the two?
Director and producer Danny Cannon and actor Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth) hinted at two characters who will be introduced in the series. Pertwee mentioned an upcoming Easter egg regarding Tommy Elliot, otherwise known as the villain Hush. In the comics, Elliot and Bruce Wayne’s destinies are intertwined, as the two were friends when they were children. Since Bruce is still young on Gotham, perhaps fans will see a young Elliot before he descends into villainy.
Cannon confirmed that Leslie Thompkins, who in the comics is a close friend and colleague to Thomas Wayne, will appear on the show. Thompkins also becomes something of a parental figure for the caped crusader. Cannon teased that Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will meet Thompkins during a difficult time in Gordon’s life, hinting that things will get a lot worse before they get any better for the young detective. A casting announcement should be expected in the upcoming week.
Last but certainly not least is possibly the most intriguing (and exciting) of characters set to appear on the show. During the Gotham New York Comic Con panel, a fan asked the cast and crew whether the love-crazed princess of crime would be added to the show’s rogues gallery, to which Cannon eventually said, “We’ll get there.”
The Joker’s right-hand gal has been near and dear to the hearts of DC Comics fans since her introduction in Batman: The Animated Series, and though the Clown Prince’s presence on Gotham remains a mystery, there may be some hope. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but is it still a possibility considering her inclusion in the Arrow-verse? Can DC fans handle two Harley Quinns?
