Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) has been officially cast as Supergirl in CBS’ upcoming series of the same name. Produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash), the series is described as follows:
The eponymous series centers on Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who escaped from Krypton amid the planet’s destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous relative. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
It’s also worth noting that Supergirl’s costume was designed by Colleen Atwood, who also created those sported by Stephen Amell/ The Arrow and Grant Gustin/ The Flash.
