In an upcoming episode of The Flash a couple familiar faces will be making a visit back to Central City. Episode eighteen, entitled “All-Star Team Up,” will bring Felicity back to Barry’s neck of the woods. This time she will be accompanied by new Queen Consolidated owner Ray Palmer. Considering Ray is coming to Central for help on his A.T.O.M. suit, it seems like it will still be awhile before we see Ray suit up.
Flash star Grant Gustin is indeed happy about the visit from Palmer. He posted a picture of the duo on his Instagram feed in front of my favorite backdrop in all of Central City: the giant-sized Justice Society homage. Looking happy Gustin posts, “I’m also working with this guy for the first time today. No big deal.”
With Ray wrapped up with the S.T.A.R. Labs team what will Felicity be doing? Producer Andrew Kreisberg says Felicity is in Central City to help Barry in a time of crisis. Kreisberg had this to say about the upcoming visit.
“Ray needs a little help with his [A.T.O.M.] suit, and who better than Felicity’s high-tech guys at STAR Labs? It happens to come at a particularly bad moment for Barry. That’s partially why we did it. The first episode with Felicity [Episode 4, “Going Rogue”], she really came along at a time when her experience in being part of a crime-fighting team definitely helped Barry overcome what he was facing that week. Similarly, when she comes, he’s having a crisis of conscience that in some ways, only somebody like she can help him through.”
A lot of time will pass before “All-Star Team Up” is upon us. We know Barry will soon travel to the future. Could Barry’s “crisis of conscience” have something to do with his experience with time travel? This could possibly be the episode where all the kinks get worked out of the A.T.O.M. suit. In any case bringing Ray Palmer and Barry Allen together just further solidifies the combined DC Television Universe. It is a ways away but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Flash/Arrow/Atom team-up. Maybe even a little Black Canary?
There is a lot to look forward to in the weeks to come not only on The Flash but on Arrow as well. With Laurel finally hitting the streets, literally, Starling now has another hero to look to. Both shows are really taking off right out of the mid-season gate. After tonight’s episode of The Flash I’m excited to see what is going to happen in Starling tomorrow night.
Watch Arrow tomorrow night 8/7c and The Flash Tuesday 8/7c on The CW
