‘Shazam!’ Confirmed to be in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that the Shazam! film will interconnect with the DC cinematic universe.

In an interview for this month’s Total Film magazine he talked about some of his upcoming roles in San Andreas, Fast & Furious 7 and Shazam!. Games Radar published a few early quotes from the interview concerning the future DC film.

Johnson, who is set to play the villain Black Adam, gave some insight into his take on the character stating that Black Adam will be closer to an anti-hero.

“I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero. It’s all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he’s given the powers, he utilised them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology.”

He also confirmed that Shazam!, which is expected to be released some time in 2019, will take place in the wider DC cinematic universe.

““It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected… One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters. But that said, there’s a great independence to Black Adam from the DC world, allowing us to inject, not only viciousness, but also winking humour.”

Full interview can be found in Total Film, out this Friday.
