Yes! You read that correctly! AMC is doing a Preacher television show! Seth Rogan tweeted this past week with these two photos on his profile. With the original Preacher series has had various adaptations through out the years it is AMC’s take on this comic that is shooting for an air date of early summer of 2016. Don’t get discouraged though with that air date as it is likely to fluctuate in our favor. With Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg as the directors of the pilot episode I am sure that it will be something amazing and worth the wait. The air date is courtesy of ScreenCrush, which also goes on to state that Sam Catlin from Breaking Bad will be an executive producer and show runner for the Preacher television show. So if he can bring his talents over from what we have seen in his writing for Breaking Bad I have no doubt that it will be true to the comics with its dark tones of good versus evil. There is no trouble in waiting for him to work his voodoo on it.

If you are unfamiliar with the comic book series Preacher, here is the short and skinny of it. Preacher was written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Steven Dillion and Glen Fabry. It is a story of Jesse Custer, who is a preacher in the small town of Annville, Texas. Jesse was accidentally possessed by the creature known as Genesis in an incident that ended up killing his whole church congregation, to include the church itself. Genesis is born from an unnatural pairing of an angel and demon, which has no sense of individual will. This ends up being a driving force for Genesis to find God once he bonded to Jesse -despite the fact that he is then rumored to be just as strong, if not stronger than God. From here they embark on an adventure that can only really be described as world changing. preacher_sethrogan
