Harley Quinn could have had a big role in the CW’s Arrow, according to Willa Holland.

While speaking at the MCM London comic book convention, Willa Holland revealed that there were big plans for Harley Quinn in the CW’s series Arrow. Unfortunately those plans were never followed through due to the character’s inclusion in the Suicide Squad movie.

Harley Quinn did have an extremely short cameo appearance in Arrow’s second season. According to Holland, there were plans to see more of Harley in future episodes. However, whatever plans may have been in place, the character is now off limits because of future movie plans.

“We had big plans for Harley. But, I guess something came down from DC execs that told us to shut it down,”

Holland also asked to weigh in on the future of female superheroes and on women in TV and movies. Holland stated she was honoured to be able to play her character’s arch as an empowered woman. She also said she was hopeful for the future of women on TV.
