Australian actor Jai Courtney recently conducted an interview while promoting Terminator Genisys. During the interview, Courtney was asked about his upcoming role as Captain Boomerang in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

“I’m really excited about it. The vibe on set’s fantastic. We’ve really found a sort of a family atmosphere out there,” said Courtney. “The cast are fantastic. And I’m working with some wonderful actors and David Ayer’s someone who — I mean, he was the real draw card for me. I hadn’t read a script at all when I signed on.”

Courtney admitted he was a little apprehensive when he was approached for the role of George Harkness/Captain Boomerang. “And, to be honest, when he told me that the role of Captain Boomerang was what he was thinking, I kind of cringed. ‘Cause I wasn’t a comic book kid. I wasn’t familiar with the DC universe and the history of that’. So I knew nothing about it. And I was, like, ‘Oh, god, Captain Boomerang…Really?…I really don’t know how Australians will react to this.’ (laughs)”

When asked about castmate Jared Leto’s rendition of The Joker, Courtney didn’t offer up much. But he did give a tease on what to expect. “[It’s out there, man] (Laughs)”

Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang and the rest of Task Force report for duty on August 5, 2016, when Suicide Squad hits theaters in the US.
