According to Suicide Squad co-star Scott Eastwood, Jared Leto as The Joker is quite frightening.

“I was sort of afraid to approach him because I didn’t want to mess with his thing going on,” Eastwood told E! Online.”But I knew him before. I met him before he was The Joker. I just met him as Jared Leto. So I didn’t know if I wanted to mess up his thing.”

Leto, who has starred in films like Fight Club and The Dallas Buyers Club, has been spotted on set in full costume. His version of The Joker is seemingly inspired by Frank Miller’s take on the character.

As details surrounding the film are being revealed, Eastwood promised that director David Ayer “is doing something the world will be really surprised about.”

Ayer will direct the film, which stars Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Viola Davis will play Amanda Waller. Ed Harris and Jackie Earle Haley are rumored to appear as well.

Suicide Squad premieres on the big screen August 5, 2016.
