The beginning of season two is the very earliest origins of how The Joker came to be.
Monaghan will Reprise his role as Jerome for the second season, as confirmed during WonderCon earlier this year. Ever since his appearance on the show, it has been speculated that he would become The Joker. FOX, the station that airs Gotham, even promoted it that way. And knowing that Jerome’s story and The Joker’s story will both be covered during the second season, it doesn’t seem like a far leap to assume that they may be one in the same.
It wouldn’t be surprising if “Jerome” is a cover for this iconic character, and this latest tease seems to add fuel to the rumors that Monaghan will indeed play the Joker.
Gotham season 2 will premiere on Monday, September 21st at 8pm on FOX.
