Ever since The LEGO Movie became a wild smash hit since its release in 2014, Warner Bros. has gone a little LEGO-happy — especially with DC properties. Shortly after The LEGO Movie came out, we saw LEGO DC Comics: Batman Be-Leaguered, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs Bizarro League, and the video game LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham hit store shelves.
Thanks to the success of that film, Warner Bros. greenlit a slew of other full-length LEGO features. In 2017, we get The LEGO Batman Movie. Will Arnett will reprise his role as the Block Knight, and is joined by Michael Cera, who will play Robin.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the newest addition to the cast appears to be none other than Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date), portraying the Clown Prince of Crime, Joker! Galifianakis, who is apparently in final negotiations for the movie, is no stranger to the voiceover booth. He has previous voice experience on prominent programs such as The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers. He also has another television show currently in production with co-producer Louis C.K., and a film from Relativity Media which has been delayed due to the company’s current bankruptcy filing.
The LEGO Batman Movie is being produced by the hottest pair in Hollywood right now, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and will release in 2017.
