It’s been known for a while that Jared Leto really threw himself into the role of the Joker for Suicide Squad, but according to his costar, Will Smith, Leto took the part so far that he never stopped being the Clown Prince of crime long enough to introduce himself.
“I have never actually met Jared Leto,” Smith, who plays Deadshot alongside Leto in Suicide Squad, told Zane Lowe on the Beats 1 radio show on Monday. “We worked together for six months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘action’ and ‘cut’. We’ve never said hello. We’ve never said good day. I’ve only ever spoken to him as Deadshot and him as The Joker. I literally have not met him yet… No, not a single word exchanged off camera. He was all in on The Joker.”
Even though Leto has yet to introduce himself, Smith still wants to officially meet him. He added, “I’m looking forward to meeting him. I’ve only ever met The Joker.”
