Episode Should Air Sometime Before The Season Finale

It’s no secret how much of a comic book fan filmmaker, actor and writer Kevin Smith is. The director of  Clerks (1994), Mallrats (1995) and Dogma (1999) will lend his cinematic expertise to the small screen. It was announced today by the CW during The Critics Association (TCA) meeting that Smith will direct an episode of the popular series The Flash starring Grant Gustin.

Smith has written numerous comic book related scripts and stories, including the plot for the defunct film Superman Lives and his recent book Batman 66 meets the Green Hornet, but this marks the first time he has stepped behind the camera to direct a television series in the comic book genre.

No word yet on an airdate or episode number, but it’s rumored that it will air sometime in May before the season finale.

The CW also announced at TCA that it has renewed the animated series Vixen on its incubator site The Seed. Vixen star Megalyn Echikunwoke will reprise her character in live-action form on an upcoming episode of Arrow, also on the CW.

The Flash returns with new episodes January 19 at 8/7 c on the CW. Arrow also returns with new episodes January 20 at 8/7c on the CW.
