That’s right! Warner Brothers has Jason Fuchs working on the script to a Lobo movie! It has been on the back burner for some time now and will take on a life with the help of Jason. That being said there have not been any casting calls or mention of the sort by Warner Brothers yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be aiming for a spot if I can!
For those who may be wondering who this Lobo guy is and where he came from let me give you some quick notes. Lobo is DC’s anti-hero that officially hit comics back in 1983. Created by the wonderful minds of Keith Giffen as well as Roger Silfer. Lobo was originally just a villain but had a face lift in the 90’s to help keep up the rough image which ended up becoming a parity of Wolverine and The Punisher. Lobo is a cosmic bounty-hunter that rides around on a pretty amazing looking bike as he tracks down targets, and collects the bounty. His targets ranged from Santa Clause to his own kids. His main targets are generally Superman and Deathstroke. This of course made him a lot of fun to read and to watch as a character with so many different superheroes and villains to face off against. Having his own code that he sticks by, even Superman had some form of respect for him. Then in the New 52, his image was updated again to give him a more suave and less bulky look. Honestly, I prefer the heavy metal, rough-cut Lobo from the 1990’s.
At one point in 2009 when the Lobo movie was in the works we almost got to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Lobo but he decided to go in a different direction thus not playing the part. Another fun fact is that Danny Trejo – you might know him from movies like Machete or Dead In Tombstone; offered to play him, but so far no one has confirmed anything or said a word about who we will get to see play this often overlooked DC character.
