‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ First Trailer Released

Last week DC debuted an inside look at Batman: The Killing Joke and how it came to be. Today a full length trailer for the upcoming animated feature was released online. The Killing Joke, penned by Alan Moore, is one of the most iconic Batman/Joker stories to date. This tale also provides a certain amount of insight into the origin story of the Clown Prince of Crime himself.

This graphic novel is one of the darkest and most terrifying in the entire DC catalog. The Joker wreaks havoc on Gotham’s finest individuals. The story was lacking a little meat in that it wasn’t quite long enough to make an animated feature film. The production team fixed this problem by adding somewhat of a prequel that will show more of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Who she is as a person and who she is as a hero. This way lesser versed Batgirl fans will feel a little more of a crushing blow when the events of The Killing Joke unfold.

This feature will bring together the entire Batman: The Animated Series voice cast. Most notably Kevin Conroy as The Caped Crusader, Mark Hamill as Joker, and Tara Strong as Batgirl will all be together again. This alone is justification enough that this movie has been handled the right way.

Be sure to check out Batman: The Killing Joke when it comes to Blu-ray sometime this Summer.
