Alan Moore’s Batman: The Killing Joke will soon be coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Fans have been waiting to see this story brought to life for 28 years. DC and Warner Bros. did not disappoint when they first announced that the film would receive an R rating. This news sent comic fans everywhere into a frenzy not only because this is the first DC animated film to be given an R rating, but also because the hardcore rating is essentially the only way for the story to be told correctly.
In an exclusive from EW, the release date and many of the incredible features that will be included in the deluxe Blu-Ray edition was released. The Digital HD version of the film will release on July 23. However, the deluxe edition and combo pack of Batman: The Killing Joke comes out on August 2 and this is the version you’ll be wanting to snag. The Blu-Ray will come with two special featurettes, two full length episodes from Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures, and a special edition Joker figurine. The first featurette is entitled Madness Set to Music, a documentary which chronicles the creation of the film’s storyboards and original score, and the second is called  Many Shades of the Joker: The Tale of the Killing Joke. This will be a making-of short that explores the distinct style of the graphic novel.
