According to the (presumably) good people of TV Line, Gotham has cast All My Children alum Maggie Geha as the adult version of Bat-villain Poison Ivy.

As for Geha’s qualifications, she is a pretty redhead, so there’s that. It remains to be seen whether or not she can secrete poison or wield control over plant life, both of which would seem to be valuable skills for landing the role.

Gotham is a Fox TV series about what Gotham City was like when Batman was just a kid and not actually Batman yet, and everyone that he encounters is nudge-nudge wink-wink going to eventually become a villain that he’s going to have to beat up when he gets old enough.

The character of “Ivy Pepper” (what?) had been previously portrayed as a young teenager by actress Clare Foley. As for how the character will suddenly advance in age, TV Line provides the following SPOILER:

Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
