Throughout Wonder Woman’s rich history Diana has held many titles, from emissary, Amazon Princess, demigoddess, and ambassador all of which were very deserving. However, she will obtain a real-world title in the U.N. soon as an honorary ambassador for everything that Wonder Woman has become known for; the empowerment of women and girls.
The event announcement of her new title will be in New York on October 21st at the U.N. headquarters, which also happens to be Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary. To top it off Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot are just two of the bigger names you might recognize to the attendance list. Others include DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and a long list of other guests. This also marks the first time that both Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter have ever met and will be a very amazing thing to be apart of with the two best known actresses of the character. With Lynda’s portrayal of Wonder Woman in the television show that spanned from 1975-1979. Then Gal’s version showing off in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and later next year in the Wonder Woman film as well as in 2018 for The Justice League.
Now the other reason to this amazing announcement is that the U.N. will also launch a global campaign to “achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls” which is being called Sustainable Development Goal No. 5. To read more in-depth with the campaign click here.
