The CW Network has officially picked up ‘Black Lightning’

The CW network has officially picked up Black Lightning which will be the latest edition to the DC TV Universe which has grown from strength to strength since the inception of Arrow in 2012. The latest super hero story will star Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, guided by executive producers Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, Mara Brock Akil and Sarah Schechter. Black Lightning may debut mid 2018 and will be the fourth DC related TV show that the network will manage.

“Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter, Jennifer hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.”

The cast includes Salim Akil, Mara Brock Akil & Greg Berlanti’s Black Lightning stars Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie, Friday Night Lights) as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, Nafessa Williams (Code Black) as Jennifer Pierce, China Anne McClain (House of Payne) as Anissa Pierce and Christine Adams (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Lynn.
