Central City will have a new speedster guarding the streets when The CW series The Flash returns for its Season 4! Keiynan Lonsdale the actor playing Wally West reveals that Kid Flash may have big boots to fill!

At the end of last season on The CW action series The Flash after outsmarting his future-self counterpart, the “Speed God” Savitar, Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) faced another conundrum as the Speed Force itself unleashed a furious electrical storm that threatened to demolish Central City. The Speed Force beaconed to Barry, in the form of his mother Nora (Michelle Harrison) and promised the hero that he had earned his place.

After a season where fans witnessed as both Kid Flash (played by Keiynan Lonsdale) and the Earth-3 “Golden Age” Flash/Jay Garrick (played by series recurring guest star John Wesley Shipp) both made sacrifices to remain within trapped themselves within the natural energy force, once Savitar was vanquished, it was certain — a speedster must remain beyond to keep balance within the force — and it’s not at all a pleasant experience!

Fortune smiles on Barry, who has been promised his experience will be kinder, and as he stepped freely into the Speed Force and said his good byes to his Team Flash mates, burden of protecting Central City fell onto Kid Flash! In that moment the baton was passed, and for many viewers it also left them feeling despondent over what that will mean for Season 4! Has the Fastest Man Alive really passed the mantle of the Scarlet Speedster to his heir apparent? Is Wally even ready?

Keiynan Lonsdale the actor who plays Wally West/Kid Flash has indicated he won’t be stepping into the familiar red suit, at least not right away! When the show returns in the fall, six months will have passed and Kid Flash will have been very busy! “Everyone Has gone through an emotional rollercoaster by the end of the season and it’s not a clean, happy ending,” Lonsdale commented in an interview with NKD Magazine. “We see Wally with a lot of weight on his shoulders.”

Season 4 of The Flash doesn’t premiere until October, and fans are clamoring for as much news as they can get on the series which is the clear stand-out among the rest of The CW line-up. The news that the writers room has added veteran comic writer Sterling Gates to the staff is certainly exciting news given the writer’s clean connectivity to the comics universe. Many fans are hoping that Season 4 will embark on storylines ripped right from the hero’s more than 75 years of history!

With the Flash Family having been introduced and a legacy that spans one of comic’s most endearing mythologies, The Flash will undoubtedly continue to inspire great revelations especially given that in Season 4 there will be more to play with when a new villain, The Thinker — a rogue that has battled against The Flash since the Golden Age of comics, and plagued every speedster since! Stay tuned as more will be revealed of The Flash Season 4 soon!
