Fan and critical reaction to both Man Of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice was polarizing to say the least, so it was not a big shock when Matthew Vaughn’s name was thrown in as a possible director for Man Of Steel 2 since he has directed fan and critical favorites such as Kingsman. While doing press for that film’s sequel (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Vaughn had this to say about his participation in Supes’ second solo film:
“I am planning another Kingman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman.”
Could this be The Dark Knight to Man Of Steel’s Batman Begins? Maybe, but if Vaughn does end up directing the movie don’t expect the darkness. As he also added:
“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”
Who knows how this will shake out in the end, but I’d be first in line for a Vaughn helmed Superman movie.
