According to a recent Twitter post by Geoff Johns, Doom Patrol may be coming to DC’s upcoming TV show Titans. With the primary cast members for the show already announced, including Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, the structure of the show is becoming more defined. It’s clear that stories will be inspired by Teen Titans comics and the animated TV show, and Geoff Johns may have hinted at an arc for Beast Boy in the upcoming show.
Beast Boy was once a part of Doom Patrol, a superhero team with several incarnations since its debut in 1963 that has battled villains such as the Brotherhood of Evil. The Doom Patrol gave Beast Boy his first chance to be a hero, and the team is essential to Beast Boy’s growth as a Titan. Even though he is no longer a member of the Doom Patrol, the two have crossed paths many times since Beast Boy’s departure.
Rumor’s of the Doom Patrol’s involvement surfaced after a twitter conversation between Ryan Potter and Geoff Johns shown below. If Doom Patrol is going to be included in the show, perhaps fans will get a look at all of the Titans’ backstories before they come together as a team of heroes. This theory seems to be corroborated by rumors of the Flying Graysons appearing in the show that surfaced earlier this month which could provide the backstory for Brenton Thwaites’s Dick Grayson.
Titans will premier in 2018 and also stars Teagan Croft as Raven, Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach.
