Spider-Man: Homecoming scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are currently in negotiations to take on the Fastest Man Alive as directors of DC Films’ upcoming movie, Flashpoint.
It’s being reported that Warner Bros. first reached out to Ben Affleck about returning to the director’s chair for this film, however he turned down the job.
With Daley and Goldstein on tap, it seems that WB is looking to hold onto the comedic sense that Ezra Miller’s Flash brought to Justice League as the duo has comedic directing experience with the 2015 comedy sequel Vacation and the upcoming comedy Game Night, starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams.
Flashpoint had been on hold since director Rick Famuyiwa stepped away from the project. While looking for his replacement, the studio decided to take the script in a different direction. Joby Harold has turned in a new draft after a page-one rewrite.
This comes as Warner Bros. is reshuffling the DC Universe with New Line exec Walter Hamada recently promoted to oversee its comic book movies. The studio also recently tapped Michael De Luca as a producer on the Suicide Squad sequel.
