DC’s upcoming film, Aquaman, is featured on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly magazine. They just shared new looks at Aquaman, Mera, and Queen Atlanna, and now we have our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who plays the villain Black Manta. Entertainment Weekly says this is a “prototype”, so perhaps there will be another version in the movie too.

He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space,” director James Wan teased. Black Manta’s alter-ego in the movie is David Kane, which is different from his name in the comics, David Hyde.

Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story but our main story is about Jason and Patrick,” Wan confirmed.  Patrick Wilson is set to play Ocean Master in the film.

All this promotion leads us to believe that an Aquaman trailer should be right around the corner.

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.
