News just broke today that Ruby Rose will be playing Batwoman on the CW Network.

The character will premiere in CW’s crossover between Supergirl, Flash, Arrow,  but not Legends of Tomorrow.  She is also set to star in her own CW series as Kate Kane herself.  Batwoman is an important character who is not afraid to speak her mind and fight for justice in a world that doesn’t always get everything right.  Her skills as Batwoman come from being a highly trained street fighter, and yes, she also happens to be lesbian.  Will she be Gotham’s new symbol of justice, or will she have to overcome her own issues first?

Executive producers on this project include Geoff Johns through Mad Ghost Productions, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter through Berlanti Productions, and Caroline Dries, who is also the writer on the project.

Ruby Rose is a native Australian who has been seen in projects like John Wick: Chapter 2, Orange is the New Black, Pitch Perfect 3, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, The Meg, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.  Those are a great mix of action and dramatic projects, so she definitely seems prepared to take on this role.
