Nicolas Cage loves Superman. So much so that he named his son Kal-El. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Cage’s love for the character was brought up, as well as the possibility of him playing Superman. Cage laughed off that suggestion, though he did seem much more interested in playing a villain.
“Oh, I think my Superman days are long gone,” Cage laughed, patting himself on his stomach. But then The Guardian suggested that he should play a villain, and they say his eyes lit up. “Oh, that would be GREAT! I’d make a great Lex Luthor!,” he replied.
His dreams of playing Superman may have been dashed when Tim Burton’s Superman film got shelved, but with the future of the DC shared universe up in the air, could Cage be the breath of fresh air the franchise needs?
