Preview World just released some new information regarding a new title from DC that will focus on characters that have been previously overlooked. The series will be written by Academy Award winning screenwriter John Ridley (12 Years A Slave, Let It Fall).
It should come as no surprise that the DC Universe has experience some epic moments throughout its 80 plus year history that will live on forever in the hearts and minds of comic book readers everywhere. However during these epic moments, what else was going on in the universe and in the lives of some the lesser known DC heroes?
To answer that question, DC Comics is looking to produce a new title that will seek to answer that question and others as way of fleshing out the universe even more. Early next year, DC will release The Other History of The DC Universe and is promising to really try to show readers something new. Check out this post from DC’s website on the title:
“…a largely prose-driven series that will be supplemented with breathtaking illustrations by a rotating team of star artists. The Other History of the DC Universe will look at notable events from DC Universe history through a different perspective, telling the equally vital stories of heroes who have been there throughout the DCU’s past, but come from different disenfranchised groups.”
So far, we know that the title will be published under the new DC Black Label that is looking to offer readers more mature and thought-provoking material to really dive into. To help bring this book to life, Ridley will be working with a varying cadre of artists but will begin by having Black Lightning in the first issue illustrated by Alex Dos Dias.
