With Gotham ending soon some fans will be looking for their Batman prequel fix in the new series, Pennyworth.  Some have even wondered if Gotham’s Sean Pertwee would be reprising the role for the series titular character. However, the latest casting news puts that possibility to rest.

Actor Jack Bannon has been cast as Alfred Pennyworth in the new prequel series. Bannon was chosen due to his resemblance to the character described as:

A boyishly handsome, cheerful, charming, clever young man from London. Honest, open-faced and witty; you’d never take him for an SAS killer.

Joining Jack Bannon is actor Ben Aldridge who has been cast as a younger Thomas Wayne. Thomas Wayne is described as:

A young, fresh-faced billionaire hailing from the East Coast of the United States. Confident and extremely disciplined, this young aristocrat meets an unlikely business partner in Alfred Pennyworth.

Production on the 10-episode drama series will begin Monday, October 22, 2018.
