In spite of the DCEU being in a state of flux at Warner Bros., the assigned director to the Nightwing project assured fans that the film is still alive.
Although there have been no progress reports beyond the hiring of director Chris McKay, he responded on Twitter to a question as to the abandonment of the solo film treatment of Batman’s first partner: “No. You’re going to have to wait tho. Keep hope alive. To paraphrase Dick Grayson: Nightwing lives. Always.”
Although Dick is making the rounds on DC Universe’s series Titans, the success of the Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight portrayal in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice has had fans awaiting the arrival of Nightwing in this established cinematic reality. McKay was assigned to the project as the director alongside writer Bill Dubuque in February 2017. It remains to be seen, however, if McKay still intends to distinguish the film as a separate entity to the DCEU.
